Bio

Tanya is a young NYC-based artist dedicated to sharing the unique expression of movement, sound, and emotion. Her tap dancing has been featured in a Professional Artist Profile for the PBS Television show “Pinkalicious and Peterriffic.” She has taught at and performed at leading institutions and tap festivals around the world including Broadway Dance Center, The Joffrey Ballet School, The New York City Tap Festival (Tap City), Tap Dance Festival UK, The Big Apple Tap Festival, and Tap in Rio.

She is a proud former member of the Tap City Youth Ensemble and is now a principal dancer and assistant choreographer in connection with the works of renowned tap dancer Jason E. Bernard (Bring in ‘da Noise, Bring in ‘da Funk, Riverdance, After Midnight), an Artist in Residence at The American Tap Dance Foundation in NYC. She has performed alongside multi-Grammy nominee Bobby Sanabria at the iconic Birdland Jazz Club under the direction of Mercedes Ellington, has also been featured in The Financial Times, Dance Teacher Magazine, Broadway World, Chacott World Report, and her performances can be found in the permanent archives of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Tanya is currently a B.A. Performance Studies Candidate at NYU's prestigious Tisch School of The Arts.

Tanya is grateful for the opportunity to learn from and have studied with many outstanding artists such as Guillem Alonso, Jason E. Bernard, Brenda Bufalino, Michelle Dorrance, Barbara Duffy, Felipe Galganni, Derick K. Grant, Jared Grimes, Jason Janas, the late Mable Lee, Andrew Nemr, Sarah Reich, Charles Renato, Jason Samuels Smith, Melinda Sullivan, Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards, Caleb Teicher, and Dianne Walker, among others.
